The web site is dead. It refers you to their new store, James Allen. James Allen, is the same company as Dirt Cheap, but with a fancier web site, and higher prices. This review is...
Best place to buy diamonds!Reviewed Sep 6, 2006
I recently purchased a diamond on DCD after tons of hesititation, and could not have had a better experience. Like everyone, the idea of making such a large purchase sight unseen was scary, but DCD made it easy and fun. The diamond came sooner than expected, and when it arrived was even better than i imagined. The service is fast and wonderful, and even when it arrived a half size bigger than I ordered, Jim Shultz promtly sent me a check for the amount that it cost me to get it sized down. And when I it checked out by a jeweler to confirm the diamond was real and matched the ags certification, even he agreed that it was a great purchase. This review is...
Great experience with Dirtcheapdiamonds.comReviewed May 27, 2006
I purchased a diamond from dirtcheapdiamonds.com last week for an engagement ring. I was hesitant to make such an expensive ($9600 with a pricescope discount/bank wire) purchase online without seeing it first, so had it sent to an appraiser for a pre-purchase inspection. The appraiser said the diamond was very nice for the price. The D color was much clearer than the D the appraiser had in his office, and for a VS1 there were only 3 small inclusions. This diamond was FAR nicer than the one the local jewelry shop brought in for me to inspect at the same price. I spoke with Josh over the phone and he was very courteous and answered all of my questions thorougly, I recommend them. This review is...
Great prices. I wouldn't shop anywhere else.Reviewed Feb 17, 2006
I recently bought a diamond ring for my girlfriend through dirtcheapdiamonds, and I'm so glad that I did. At first, my girlfriend was skeptical, but after doing research on the web, I was convinced that they were an excellent company. I was right. Jennifer was very helpful in finding a great diamond within my budget. We were very happy when we received it. My girlfriend's mother works at a jewelry store, and she wouldn't have been able to get it for the price that I got, even with her employee discount. The ring was appraised at over twice the value that I paid, and it looks so much better than anything that we saw in the store. My girlfriend/fiancee and I are now spreading the word to all our friends that dirtcheapdiamonds is the way to go!This review is...

Not so dirt cheap...Reviewed Oct 1, 2005
I have found Dirt Cheap Diamonds to be not so cheap...
You are better buying locally where you will receive service....or buying from an Ebay seller that has a 100% feeback and has been in business for a while.
I called this Dirt Cheap outfit and they wouldn't negotiate prices....
They must be making a whole lot of money is all I got to say. This review is...

Wonderful Experiance with Dirt Cheap Diamonds!Reviewed Aug 4, 2004
I received my beautiful emerald cut diamond yesterday. I went to get it appraised and it was quoted at being worth $1400 more than it was purchased for. The appraiser was amazed at the quality of the diamond and said though it was classified as an F in color it looked more like an E. Jennifer with Dirt Cheap was very helpful. I must have called her six times and each time my fiance and I were reassured of our purchase. Those who are hesitant to make such a large purchase online as I was it is understandable but dirt cheap is the way to go!

Good experience with Dirt Cheap DiamondsReviewed Apr 16, 2004
They sold me a lovely pear shaped I color VS2 diamond. They were helpful with good advice and actually steered me away from a larger more expensive diamond that they thought that I wouldn't be happy with. I got a great price on an ideal cut 1.12 carat stone that I'm sure I would have paid double for around here. I also found the same diamond on another site for $500 more. The stone arrived double boxed with GIA certificate and a really cool lighted ring box. A very positive experience with no pressure and friendly service.

big thumbs up for dirtcheapdiamondsReviewed Feb 29, 2004
Wanted to post my enthusiastic recommendation for Jim Schultz up at dirtcheapdiamonds.com. I was a bit nervous about purchasing sight unseen over the internet, but all my concerns were alleivated by Jim and his professional service and staff. I live outside of DC, and was able to make an appointment at which Jim had a few stones that we chose shipped in to compare. I spent a total of about 1 1/2 hours up there with him. Jim measured and weighed all the stones, went over all the specs with me, and did not pressure me towards one stone or another. And the prices are true to their name.
I also had a setting and wedding band made through Jim, and was thrilled with the result. Got a "very very very" good price on the rings, according to an internet ring maker who shall remain nameless. That's 3 verys.
As far as the appraisal goes, Martin Fuller appraised the whole package for almost 50% more than what I paid for it.
thanks Jim!This review is...
Nerve Wracking But Worth ItReviewed Feb 18, 2004
We married in a hurry (relocation-not baby--we're in our 40's with teenagers) and didn't bother with an engagement ring. Months later on our late-honeymoon cruise I spotted my perfect ring. I told my husband, Greg, that someday I wanted an "engagement ring" exactly like the tin and CZ one I flashed in front of him. He said "OK" which I took as a solemn vow--I bought it (for a ridiculous $50) just so I would remember the size of the stone and setting.
Well, we're finally engaged.
Greg bought me a 2.041 carat diamond set in a custom platinum setting crafted by Ansley's to replicate my honeymoon "dream" ring.
It is spectacular. I doubted that the real diamond could look any better than the CZ but it's truly incredible how brilliant it is--it makes the CZ look milky.
I never would have guessed we would order a diamond on-line but Greg investigated Dirt Cheap Diamonds and couldn't find one piece of negative press (I'm not surprised). We did our homework at the local jewelers and then felt confident going with an AGS certified stone. A little reassurance from Jennifer that it was a beautiful diamond helped too.
So despite some initial "are we being really stupid" jitters, this has been one of the best purchase experiences of my life. And certainly it is the ring of my life.
Thanks Dirt Cheap, I'm another thrilled customer.

I will pass on the good wordReviewed Feb 17, 2004
I recently purchased a diamond and setting fom DCD.com. It was great to be able to speak directly with the owner before purchasing. They were very helpful and the ring was set and shipped in one week from the order date. The ring and EGL cert. diamond was apprasied by a local jewler and I was very happy to learn that he would have charged close to 30% more and the EGL cert was right on the money. Comparing a diamond as close to the exact same one I purchased to diamonds on Blue Nile, DCD.com was 28% cheaper!
Most importantly....she loved the ring. This review is...
Surprised by ease of online jeweler - Dirt Cheap DiamondsReviewed Jan 28, 2004
Having read the testimonials on the "dirtcheapdiamonds" website, and being a bit of a reserved person, I now feel almost silly as I am about to gush over it--but, it's beautiful! Their website proved invaluably helpful, straightforward, and streamlined, and the courteous attention I received from the staff has won me over completely. I will recommend it to anyone I ever hear contemplating a diamond purchase, and I hope in the future to do business with them again! This review is...

Excellent Prices and Excellent ServiceReviewed Dec 17, 2003
My research on diamond prices was extensive: I built a database of over 1700 diamonds in the size, color, and clarity range in which I was interested; then I performed a detailed statistical analysis of how the 4Cs trade off against one another. A friend pointed me to Dirt Cheap Diamonds, so I found three appropriate stones and compared them against my database. In all cases, the prices were below the average by at least one standard deviation, even for the stone I selected with excellent polish and symmetry. After that, the choice was simple. (The answer, by the way, is that each 0.01 carat adds about $71 to the price, and each incremental rating in color and clarity takes away $227 and $312 from the price; an ideal cut, depending on the stone can add $200 to $500 in value. These are good rules of thumb in the 0.5 to 1.0 ct. range for round stones.)
Dirt Cheap Diamonds doesn't have online ordering per se, you have to make a phone call. However, it was nice to have a person double check the specifications, and the service was incredibly prompt and friendly. This review is...
